Singing from the Source

During two years of artistic research, Vilja-Louise has worked on her project, Singing From the Source. This explores the particular essence in a voice that moves us - where and how it originates. Starting from her roots in Swedish folk music she has searched among singers from around the world who possess that quality.

The concert contains a meditative band of pearls with personal interpretations of songs from Georgian, Appalachian and Gaelic traditions, to name a few. Vilja-Louise performs with both strength and fragility, unmasked and true, bringing the various music worlds together to enrich her own unique expression.

This Masters examination concert also marks the release of her debut album Singing from the Source - a homage to the singers who have carried these songs throughout the years so that we may enjoy them today.
